hi all . alot of people dont like the 01 z for some reason . ive had mine for almost a year now and i love it . no oil issues or anything else . the car has 40k and it has been supercharged since it had about 15 k . i also feel like im driving a different car compared to the more desired 02-04 z,s . belive it or not i feel kinda proud when a 02-04 pulls up next to me i feel like my car is more rare . i like the z06 badge without the horespower on it becouse who has 405 lots of us are over that hp rating already and ofcourse modded 02-04's dont want to put the 01 emblem becouse they dont want people to think its an 01 z. not meaning that i love all z's i just wanted to know if there is anyone out there that thinks the same as i do

I enjoy my '01 Z06 every time I drive it. I've beat more than my share of '02-'04 units in autocross competition so it isn't worth quibbling over a few horsepower. I've got the parts to add the HUD system because I like the idea of not having to look down all the time before shifting. They are all great cars. I'd rather own my '01 Z06 than any year newer coupe.
Got it last year with only 17K Miles for 28.5 clams
No oil burning issues..... and dynoed @ MTI bone stock @ 347 RWHP in August 04 .....
I do have some tire burning issues though on occasion
I agree - I too hear the 02-04 bunch ragging on the older brother 01...... guess it's the golfing/country clubs types who need to have the most espensive putter

Sorry guys, but I have to disagree. I hang out on the forum quite a bit and talk with other Z06 owners frequently and I really don't hear the 01 being put down. I do hear the differences and improvements between the 01's and the newer Z06's being discussed, but this is just normal and friendly discussion.
Oh...and by the way...I own an 04 Z06 and I don't have a country club membership.
BTW...since you guys are feeling picked on...here you go... Can't we all just get along?!?!
never said anything about being picked on , just saying that the 01 z,s are one of a kind . first and last year with 385 hp vs 02-04 which are a dime a dozen . this thread was just to see if other 01 z owners feel as lucky as i do to have an 01 not to bash any other of our z brothers . i few years down the road 01 z's will be rare . imho
Mine is a bit of a burner, about 1 qt every 700 miles or so, no big deal. I kind of like the idea of topping off with fresh oil. Been sc'ed for about 2k miles now and love it, even with the oil problem and deffinetly not looking back. It is the way I drive which eats the oil and I am trying to break some habbits. Also considering I got her with 23k miles for $27k in my first color choice, can't complain. She dynoed stock @ 350 and now is @ 540 rwhp....
You asked for my 2 cents I gave it to you. If you prefer I'll take the PC route and say that some people were compliment-challenged.... how's that grab ya?
In any case I love my 01 Z - it does everything I ask of it and more. At $28.5 it is a total performance bargain CHEAP PERFORMANCE that is easy to work-on.
If used 01 Z's dip below 20K....I'd even consider getting a 2nd one to race (autocross, roadrace, and dragrace).
I got mine cheaper... had it re-rung (no oil consumption now at all even with HPDE's) and have modded it to surpass any and all differences.
A few bolt-on's and an aluminum flywheel and i can walk other Z06's no problem. Last time out at VIR another forum member with a bone stock '02 Z thought he'd get a run on me off of "oak tree" onto the back straight.
He came into the pits raving about how he scooted up on me expecting to pass then I walked him 5 cars down the back straight. He's going T1 racing so the guy can drive.
Even before the aluminum flywheel I ran 12.15 @ 117 in the 1/4 last August, so the car can move
I used to own an 01Z and I now have an 02Z. I can tell NO difference between the two. The performance appears to be the same IMHO. I should have kept the 01 and saved some $$$$$.
I have an 01 and can not be happier. All cars have problems to some degree, but at least I do not feel bad about investing money in keeping her going ( or going faster! ). This is the first car I can honestly say this about.

Bought my 01 in early 04 and have loved it in every way. I could have got a 02 for the same $ but it would not have been a 14,000 mile queen like this one was. IMO they are all beutiful cars and yes, 01 Zs are more rare than others, and IMO it makes them a bit special, esp a SW
I have yet to run another one @ the drag or an HPDE, but I am sure I will not drive well, as I will be staring at the awesome Z next to me Hell the worst beating I ever took at the track was with MSG Huff... I was sleeping at the light, spun all the way through 1st, 2nd still no grip and then I missed 3rd and coasted the rest :o At least it was a Vette.
No issues with my 01 and I am in love. Keeping it forever and just keep the mods coming

i see what you guys are saying, the only thing is when i get mine in the next two weeks iam kinda getting pushed away from the 01's because of the oil burning, might not be bad now but at 70,000 it might, iam not sure and would hate to spend this kind of money for one with the problem.
i didnt sit in the 01 the other day and it was bad a--. i think i'll look for one that had the rings done
all i got to say is bad a-- cars 01 or newer and i didnt even drive one yet lol
