I bought my first C5 3 weeks ago - with no intentions of impressing anyone except myself. And I am impressed - the more I drive it the more I love it!! So anyway, here's what happened today:
I don't normally take the Vette to the grocery store, but after a pleasure cruise I stopped to pick up one item needed for supper tonight. As I was making my 2nd lap around the parking lot, looking for just the "right" stall, I realized I was being followed by an attractive woman in a newer Cadillac. I decided she must just be a careful parker, looking for an ideal spot like me. I pulled into a spot, got out of the car and saw that she had stopped directly behind me, blocking the aisle, and postioning her car in my intended path. I knew I hadn't committed any driving offenses against her, so I was unsure of her intentions as I walked towards the Caddy. Down comes the passenger side window, and she smiles as she begins to speak. I bend down to hear what she's saying. She informs me that she followed me into and around the lot just to compliment me on the Vette! Totally taken aback, (I've only had the car 3 weeks), I am only able to smile and say "Thanks" as she rolls away, raising the window. WOW!!! I'm not sure if she knew it or not, but she made my day..... Maybe even my week!! I must have had the silliest smile as I floated around the store, thinking back to my youth, when part of the purpose of a car was to impress the ladies... it's been a loooong time. So now I'm thinkin "Yeah, buying this car was really a good idea". A fringe benefit that I had not even considered, but I guess I can live with it.....
I am thinking about making cards to hand out to people that walk upto me with questions. I love talking to people, but the same questions over and over and over get old.
um, to say that a c5 is a chick magnet is quite an understatement. the c5 driver can be an ugly guy---all they see is that sleek, sexy corvette with a driver who must obviously have lots of moolah..... go figure.....bub
I had a pretty attractive woman in her mid 30's pull up to me in her Ws6 Trans am, and rool down her widow to tell me I was cute. I had the top off and the windows down. I got a kick out of that. I'm 19.

Cute like a baby duck?? or cute like woo woo.... LoL just kidding around.. Glad to see more young people (24) like me with a vette.

next time say: "it looks even better on the inside"
Very nice! I find the vette to be much more of a "dude" magnet than a chick magnet though.
For years, my friends would tell me that the reason I was single was because I was driving a gold Camry.
Then I got the 'vette and ended up getting surrounded by guys who want to get a peek of what's under the hood, and how fast it can go, and how fast I've got it to go, and how much it cost, etc. etc. etc.
Having said that, I think there is a connection. My gf and I broke up about a year after I bought the Camry. Now fast forward 6 years. About a year after I bought the 'vette, she came back. Coincidence???
I took a pleasure cruise through downtown Waikiki last nite. I know exactly what ya mean. I coulda had about 15 phone numbers. People were yelling from the sidewalk.

I use these just to turn people onto the forum. Makes a good ice breaker just to meet other Vette owners as well
