Default Another gauge bezel install <pics>

Well, I had a set of gauge bezels lying around.
I had the indicated tools also...and the time (took the day off).
So, I decided to give it a shot.

After several hours, I was more than satisfied with the bezels.
They even match the shift **** and ebrake.

What do you guys think?

wait until the temps drop into the 30's and POP! they come right off because the metal expands different then the plastic.. I'm thinking of using a silicone type glue that can stretch a bit when they hop off again.

great job, thanks for sharing. I want to do it, but upwards of 100 bucks for this mod is excessive.

Huh? I've had mine on for 2 years and have had NO problems and my Vette has seen temps from 0* to 100*.

I've had mine on for over a year and took the car to Wisconsin last Christmas. Temps fell to 5 degrees and my bezels are still intact. If they fall off it's usually because they weren't installed correctly. BTW I've installed over 10 sets over the last 4 years and noe of them have fallen off.

Got 'em and I really like the look. Oh yeah - at night the give off a purplish glow from the electro-luminescent gauges. Several of my buddies now have them too!

Chevrolet must agree - have you seen the instrument panel on the C6?

I installed like the instructions said. it wasn't rocket sience.. a superglue type of glue and stick and hold. What could have gone wrong sense 3 popped off. could it be the non-Z06 cluster?

HI "Elvis",

Wow, you have done a fabulous job tackling this mod. The custom gauge rings look absolutely great. And, the pic of your car is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Best Wishes,
Eden

never had that problem with mine. Two full years of hot & cold.

I'm thinking of using a silicone type glue that can stretch a bit when they hop off again.
actually, that sounds like a good idea for an adhesive.
Though I wouldn't go around scaring everyone else un-necessarily.

I know the properties you speak of: "the metal expands different then the plastic", but at least for me I haven't seen it result in them popping off,
I think the biggest mistake people make is not trial fitting the pieces first. As received, they may not exactly fit the raised circular plastic portion of the factory gauges ... instead needing to have their circumference expanded or compressed a little (talking about the 4 pieces that have notches cut out of their circumference).

If you don't correct this, the glue contact area becomes spotty. The greater the contact area, the better the glue will hold.

But anyways, I find your idea of using silicone adhesive a brilliant idea - as with that substance the contact area becomes less critical.
