I tried the search and could not get the answer, i have seen this problem before but can not remember how to fix it. I have A 98 with dual zone and the driver side is stuck on hot air coming out (sometimes it is a little cool but not enough for florida). the passenger side is always ice cold, i tried disconnecting the battery (for days) and it did not help! what should i try next, thanks. p.s. it has plenty of refridgerant

Try these 2 things :
1. If you pulled the battery cables only once, try it one more time. 5 Minutes is sufficient. It will force the doors to go through a re-calibration of some sort. Almost every time I disconnect the battery for any reason, my doors get screwed up. It might take one or 2 more times of connecting and disconnecting to get the doors to work right. The fuse trick never worked for me. I dunno why.
2. Check the battery to make sure it isn't leaking (assuming you don't have a AGM or a Optima) There is a vacuum line directly under the battery (along with the PCM and wiring harness!). If acid hit that vacuum line, it probably burned through it.

I had this happen to me on a very hot CA day...it was irritating to say the least! I couldn't get the drivers side to blow cold, but the passenger side was putting out ice cubes. I tried shutting the car off and restarting hoping that it would reset somehow but to no avail.
I went home and thought I'd be taking it to the dealership the next day, but when I started the car up the next morning the AC worked just fine and it hasn't done it since.
I have had the AC stop blowing cold air a few times under acceleration and then it goes back to blowing cold about 30-45 seconds later. This is not normal and as soon as possible I am going to take the car in for service...shudder, shudder, shudder. (Dealerships make me nervous, but I have found one that has done okay for me the two times I've taken it in.)
Here's knocking on wood and hoping it keeps working okay for a while!

What does your outside temp read? If the ambient temp sensor is bad it can fool the system. If the outside temp is accurate, somebody else will need to chime in.

There is actually a inside sensor on the dash that reads the cabin temp. If that's bad, then it could cause some problems, but the only way to know for sure is to pull the codes. The outside temp sensor as far as I know doesn't have any affect on the climate control.
I've been fighting this problem for awhile now. Good luck with the stealership, I hope yours is better than the one that "worked" on mine. You may not have noticed yet, but when you turn on the heat, the driver side will blow cold and the passenger side will blow hot also. They charged me over $400 bucks to install a new actuator. Well, in less than a month it was doing the same thing again. I took it back and this time they wanted to install a new climate control unit for a cool $1200 just for the part. Well, I told them to shove it and have been dealing with the problem.
