Default Coupe Weatherstrip Replacement

When I removed the top this weekend a chunk of the weatherstripping on the rear part of the car (not the roof) came off . I then found several tears in the weatherstripping . I have seen this part for sale at most of the C-5 vendors but, have not been able to find instructions for removal and replacement. Has any one out there made this repair? Do you have instructions?

I have the same tear, I will be at the dealer this week for a repair.
Maybe I can get a look or better yet some instruction.

Add one more to the "oh crap, my weatherstripping is ripped" thread. I also don't have a clue on how to replace it. I've actually considered letting the dealer handle it myself.

Whenever I've had a problem with the weatherstripping, I've always had the dealer fix it - its been under warranty. Not sure, but maybe the repair manual may cover this area.

Got it!

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the removable roof panel.

2. Remove the push-in retainers from the lower ends of the rear weatherstrip.
3. Remove the screws from the upper corners of the rear weatherstrip.
4. Remove the rear weatherstrip by pulling from the retainers.
5. Inspect the weatherstrip for rips or tears. Replace if ripped or torn.

Installation Procedure

1. Apply a 6 mm (0.25 in) X 100 mm (4 in) bead of thumb grade sealer to the roof bow and lock pillar overlapping the side retainer as shown.

2. Peel the protective film from the foam tape on the new weatherstrip, or install two sided tape to a reused weatherstrip.
3. Position the rear roof weatherstrip to the retainers on the roof bow.
4. Insert the weatherstrip into the center retainer working from the center outward.

Notice

Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

5. Install the screws into the upper corners of the rear weatherstrip. Tighten
Tighten the roof weatherstrip upper corner screws to 3.4 N·m (30 lb in).

6. Insert the rear weatherstrip into the side retainers starting at the upper corners and working downward.
7. Install the push in fasteners at the lower ends of the rear weatherstrip.

8. Install the roof panel.
