Well I decided to spend some time on labor day to really clean my baby. I sprayed the engine down with a light coat of Grease lightening then rinsed. I didn't completely get her totally wet by no means. Once that was done I finished washing, waxing with NXT (great **** by the way), vacuuming, etc., pulled her in the garage for a good night sleep and the next day she's still sleeping. I try to wake her for a little run about but she refuses to wake up.... I'm thinking I must bore her to death and she decided to use her battery until is was completely drained......What do you think happened??? I got the altenator a little wet but nothing drastic..... I got home from work and decided revitilize her battery and then she wakes up.... any suggestions.... anyone else have this problem? Just wonder if this will happen again..... the battery is a AC delco (the green eye was good yesterday), I don't know if it is the orginal... She's 2000 model with only 24K on the clock. I'm open for suggestions....
If your new here and your car is new to you. You might want to check the computer under the passengers footwell for water damage. Not that you might have done it washing the engine but this computer does get wet when the A/C drain gets plugged. And as far as your battery goes I would replace it and the plugs and wires. It's good to get a fresh start with a new ride. Also the fluids in the car. Engine oil ,tranny fluid, brake fluid, and cooling system flush. The Dexcool is only good for 3 to 5 years. Congrats on the ride and miles of smiles.

If the battery is original, I would pull that sucker out of there asap. They are prone to leaking, and will pee acid all over your PCM (Computer) and wiring harness.

Well, guess it's time for a new battery, she's dead again today...... Where can a get an optima for a reasonable price??
costco sells them also. btw, i'd be way too nervous about that hose under the hood thing. this will date me but i remember wa-a-a-a-y long ago we did something like that with a dodge dart that had a slant-six. had one hell of a time getting it so start---took perhaps 30 min. that was one of those "aha" moments for me about hoses under hoods. good luck. bub
I've used simple green and a little water to wash my Tahoe's engine before. I remembering hearing that as long as you don't drench the engine, on newer cars you should be okay. Just use more of a mist on the nozzle and keep it moving, and certainly don't point it or leave it pointing at any electrical components or harnesses.
