Just started happening 5 days ago, but when I startup and put it into reverse, it stalls. Usually it starts up, and the AC won't come in, and the lights are dim. Usually, things then lightup and I can drive like normal, but often as I put it into gear and backup or go forward, it will stall. This happens about 25% of the time. Usually after a restart it then runs like normal. Did have a situation today as I was driving in a parking lot after starting up, it stalled after driving for about 30 seconds. The voltage read 12 volts when it's not started, and averages 13.1 volts when driving?
Help !! Could it be a bad battery, or other electrical problems.
Sounds like a bad battery. When I took mine out on a test drive before I bought it it was sitting for a couple weeks. I'd start it normally then everytime i put it in reverse it stalled no matter how much gas i started giving it. When I restarted it a couple times i got a reduce engine power message and couple get the rpms over 1500. I'd turn it off and try again and it would stall again. Once the battery was recharged never happened agian. Sounds like you need to check the battery.
Sounds like a bad battery to me too. I have a Camaro Z28 and when the battery was fading on that, it would never start properly. I think it needs that starting voltage to be right. Mine would idle at 2000rpm and I had to stop and restart before the computer got it sorted. I use a battery tender on the Vette to stop that happening and keep the battery in good condition.
Okay, took it into the dealer and they say they won't even look at it (i've got a lingenfelter supercharger on it). Christ.
Anyhow, yesterday I had a real hard time starting the car, and I got a message saying "power reduced" or something to that affect, and it said ABS disabled, Traction control disabled, engine power reduced, etc. Sat in the parking lot for abouy 5 minutes, and tried starting it again, voom, works great (but the check engine light was on).
Pulled the codes, and the computer is saying:
C1278 - TCS temporarily inhibited by PCM
B2252 - Key Cylinder Switch Fault
U1064 - Loss of communication with BCM
Any ideas. I'm probably going to check the battery, hoping that's whats bad, and then try another dealership that's maybe a little more mod friendly.
When I had it at the dealer a month ago they did some work on my turn signal and also had to replace the column lock (again). I'm assuming the work they did might be a factor in my current problems. I also had the Column Lock error come up again, i.e., pull key and what 10 seconds error (witht he column lock actually not locking?)
If anyone has any thoughts, i'd appreciate hearing from you !!
