of you that have ever considered selling your C5 just because of the dreaded "piston slap"? I have it in both of my C5's and at times it drives me nuts. Is this something one gets use to over time, do we resign ourselves to it being the nature of the beast? Just want to hear your thoughts... thanks !
I've never even considered selling for that reason. Mine has it but runs like a scared rabbit and doesn't use a drop of oil, so I have not intention of messing with it. I'd much rather have piston slap than the oil consumption problems. Just remember, no matter how bad your problems are they could always be worst.
My 2000 had it until it was well warmed up and it was annoying but just something I put up with since it didn't seem to hurt anything. All the rest of my C5s (2003 and 2004s) do not have the problem, so I guess they fixed it...

Nope, my 03 has it !
But the thing runs so darn well otherwise. At first when the noise started (about 3500-4000 miles) I was disappointed, to say the least. But now I have learned to live with it as I have heard that it's all to common with LS-1's (and others as well).

Okay fellas.... school me here! Are we actually talking about pistons slapping inside the cylinder walls... or are we making an gesture to a noisey lifter, maybe a loose rocker, heck even a slight exhaust leak!
Is this something that comes and goes are only when the engine is started up cold?

What's this "piston slap" thing? This is the first time I've heard of it on a LS-1 engine.
