Default Advice wanted

Whats up everyone. Ive been lurking here for a few weeks now ever since i sold my Svt and no i dont hate them, i just get sick of having the same cars and like to change them every 2 years atmost. Anyway, Ive made up my mind to try the c5. After reading some great reviews Ive decided on an 2001 model since of the suspension changes from the previous c5 models. Now, I would like you guys to help me make the right choice out of two: 1. 2001 yellow automatic (I live in Manhattan) targa and right away, getting the ECS procharger at 7# with a tune and supporting parts. 2. 2001 z06...but keeping it stock. Thanks in advance Also... whats the difference between the z51 suspension and f45???

I would go for the Z06 because you get a nice fast strong reliable car right out of the box and it will depreciate less in 2 years than a stock C5.JER

If you don't mind the hit you'll take (especially with the pro-charger) if you sell in 2 years, I'd go with the auto targa for Manhattan traffic. Any plans for weekends at the track? If so, the Z06.

F45 is an adjustable ride control. Z51 is a suspension handling package which includes heavier sway bars shocks and larger brakes. I have and prefer the Z51.

The Z will hold it's value far better than a heavily modded C5.

looks like everyone is right about what "they" prefer which is good. But given my conditions and never have driven or even been in a vette. Im stating my position and need to base my decision on that. BTW can those that said "get the Z" state why? I mean... i really wont be auto Xing with it. I do want to be fast, thats why im procharging it and it should outperform a stock Z byfar. Damn it.. i dont know

So what's the dilemma? You haven't said why you're so torn between these 2 cars. If you're going to drag on weekends and navigate Manhattan's streets during the week; and haven't mentioned any concerns about resale value, the auto coupe is for you. The Z06 is a great car (in my slightly biased opinion ), and I'm sure you'd "manage" OK with that, but the auto/super-charger combo is better suited to your conditions. Power for the track and convenience for the traffic. Nothing worse than sitting/crawling in heavy traffic in a Z06.

Now go get that car! And don't forget to wave!

I think sitting in Manhattan traffic with a manual would suck after awhile. The Z is an awesome car, but the roof isn't removable. And, if you are only going to the drags, the A4 is also the better choice. Sounds like you need the Coupe. But hey, that's just my 0.02 cents.

Good luck with whatever you choose

now those are answers!! youre both right.. "power for the track and auto for the traffic" sold me! Quick question.... an i going to suffer a big difference in getting either f45 or z51 VS. z06 suspension or can I simply mod the coupe and be hanging with the z?

fwiw from this corner of the bleachers, (setting aside the a4 vs m6 issue) given the choice of a modded car or a stock vehicle, i'll take the stock version. bub

I'd go for the Z06. Driving a Vette with an automatic is like making love with a condom . . . It's fun, but something just doesn't feel quite right.

Well, sorta. The Z51 package includes stiffer springs, larger diameter shocks, larger diameter stabilizer bars and a power steering cooler. Larger brakes are not a part of the Z51 package.

Does the f45 really make a difference in between its 3 settings?? Also, is it hard to make the f45 handle like the z51?? Thanks!
