If you have installed a Column Lock Bypass (it seems almost everyone has), you can install a airbag cutoff. Just take your time.
Also, as side note, if you follow the 97Vette.com instructions, be forwarned that it shows that you install the bypass on the passenger side of the dash. I couldn't find a connector that fit my bypass. After several calls, and wiring diagrams, I found that the connector in question was actually on the drivers side. Don't worry, it really is for the passenger side airbag even though it's on the drivers side. There is a connector on the passenger side that ALSO goes to the passenger side airbag, but this (depending on your kit) is not the one you want.
Safety precautions :
1. Unhook the battery
2. Keep your head down when working around that airbag, especially when disconnecting and connecting the cutoff switch connector.
while realizing that this job is by no means rocket science----murphy's law being what it is and my luck such as it usually occurs, i could envision the damn air bag blowing during the job. bub
