Alright, so I got a set of borla stingers and I went to go get them put on by a local shop today. Everthing ehnt fine taking the stockers off but as they were puting the stingers back on they pushed one of the hanger bolts up into the frame/rear bumper bar. I'm talking about the botl that sticks out of the frame that the muffer hanger attaches to. Anyway, the bolts are not tacked to the frame and can be pushed up into the bar never to be seen again. After telling me this we decided that it would be ok to just use a sheet metal screw to just screw into the hold in the frame. It seems to hold fine. My question is, is is bad to leave that bolt in the frame/bumper bar? If so, do I now have to take it to a body shop to take the bumper cover off to get al this screw? Any ideas?
Sad part is you don't have to remove those hangers as the muffler support bracket just slides in and out of it. I've heard that by removing the tail lights on the side effected you can get to that U shaped bolt with a bit of juggling.
I wouldn't trust the sheet metal screws either. I would think the vibration would loosen them up unless they used some locktight. get it fixed right. Good luck.
