Default Low Oil Level?

Hey guys I went to start up the car this morning to give her a bath and I was thrown the "low oil level" code. I went searched through the forums and basically for the most part found that it wasn't that much of a big deal.
I took the air cleaner off and looking into the throttle body there was a little oil, not much though. Just for my own piece of mind is this something that I should be concerned with? Will not running her so hard cool this problem? BTW she's a 2002 I know that they can be prone to this problem according to the service bulletins.

i get this all the time. my motor eats a lot of oil... so really, just fill her up. i think when the "Low Oil Level" comes on, you have like 4.5 to 5 qts in there. fill it up to what u need it at..

In my opinion, the answer depends on how long it took to get to the low level point from your last oil fill, and how full it was at that time, e.g. how fast are you losing oil? These cars do lose oil at high rpm low load conditions, particularly the 01 Z06, due to blow by of the rings, and from losses to the intake (and then through the engine) via the PCV system. Neither one of these is necessarily indicative of a mechanical problem in most cases. If your oil loss is reasonable, say a quart every few thousand miles, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Top it off and keep an eye on the level.

You need to determine your usage per thousand miles. Anything over 1 qt./k is too much.

Thanks guys. That cooled my nerves alot. I changed the oil at the beginning of the season and have driven her about 3500 miles. I also added the factory spec oil amount too and didn't overfill. So I guess I'm safe then. Thanks for the 411.
