I have a "Predator" tune I recently pulled out of my 99' coupe and was wondering, if after a reflash, it might be worthwhile to install it in my new Z?
If you reinstall the Predator tune into the machine, and return it to the manufacturer they will update it for you for a fee. You don't want to/can't install the 99 program into your 04.
I know a lot of people on this forum think the Predator isn't worth 2 cents. I got one with my car and it does feel different when I reinstall the stock tune. I've never done any dyno runs or 1/4 mile times to quantify the change. For the $75 or so they charge, it's probably worth it just to have the ability to play with tune to some extent and reset fan temps etc. $400 for a new one, I'd get the car done right with LS1 edit on the dyno.
I bought one for two reasons:
1. Eliminate CAGS
2. Diagnostics Tool
Actually, I bought it for #2, but the feature to kills CAGS was very nice (no getting under the Vette, just select to not use it and no more light or skip shift). I have their tune on my 01 Z and it did help out a little (SOTP test, no formal test). Once I get headers and other go-fast stuff on...then it is going in for a proper tune.
Also something else to check into, I believe that the predator that you have only works up to 03, for the 04's you have to buy a different programmer from diablo. So the programmer you have will not work on the 04 Z. Bryan
