Default New guy....old questions

I am sure these questions have been asked before, but being new to C5's I have a couple of things that concern me.

1. Is the CLB foolproof? Can I be assured that after I install the CLB that the column absolutely will not lock up? I already have one and plan on installing it some evening this week.

2. I know I can probably find this answer in the Owners Manual, but can the C5 be raised on a hoist with full length risers that contact the frame between front and rear wheels. I have new chrome wheels on order and need to find someone experienced with lifting C5's and also with changing tire pressure sensors.

Thank you.

Nothing electrical is absolutely foolproof. If you install an aftermarket CLB, the column cannot lock because the actuator is disconnected from the electrical circuit. However, if the CLB relay fails, the BCM will not receive the correct signal so it thinks the column is unlocked, and will shutoff the fuel if you try to drive the car.
I went to extra effort to install the GM Harness K kit, which actually removes the lockplate from the steering column. It also has a wiring harness with a relay that essentially does the same thing as the CLB.

If I were lifting a C5 between the wheels, I would still make sure to use lifting pucks installed in the holes along the frame behind the front wheel and in front of the rear wheel.
I usually just lift my car using jacking pucks and two low profile jacks, and work on one side of the car at a time.
You can buy the lifting pucks, but I had some made at a local machine shop out of aluminum that are a little thicker than the aftermaket ones for sale. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned our C5 is a 2000 with MN6 - does the GM kit work with a 6-speed? I thought it was only for automatic cars.
