A stock transmission will gradually (slip) go into gear to give driver a feel of smoothness. This is done by causeing the clutch pack to slip ever so slightly during gear change. A shift kit will increase fluid pressure, useing tiny ballls & springs. This stops the slight slipage & will thrust driver into seat at shift points. Clutch pack will last longer because now there is no slipage.

My assumption is that with the tuner, you are telling the [plastic] clutch packs to increase pressure - causing for a ''firmer'' shift. The transgo kit on the other hand, increases pressure by installing different parts which directly allows for "firmer" shifts.

I am not by any means a mechanic, but thats just my 2 cents. I would love to hear a correct answer if anyone knows though!!

After installing a shift kit, you still need to go to a tuner to adjust the tables. (firmness & shift time)
.
Without a shift kit tuner can adjust tables, you will get:
tuner only no shift kit, you will say mmmm that's pretty good. I'm glad i did that.
.
With a shift kit, after tuner you will say, HOLY ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOMEBODY STOPME.
.
by law, you must get neck injury insurance for passenger, hehehehee
