Default Lowering&Flush Tail lights?

I just finished painting my calipers and still awaiting for my ceramic pads...well while it was on jackstands I thought why not pull some light mods while at wait... So I bought me 7" 8grade 1/2 bolts/nuts... then some screws and nylon washers for the tail lights...

Well my 1st question is.
How do I allign the lights to fit just right, seems to me they need to be angeled up a bit how did you guys accomplish this?

Also does anyone have a good write up on lowering and is it the same procedure for front and back?
thanx in advance.

Trial and error or buy the flush kit.

Check the Tech Tips under "Other" for instructions on lowering. Just don't go too low or the ride gets rough.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=27&TopicID=1

I haven't done the flush-lights mod, but I understand that the outer spacers need to be trimmed.

I'm in Newark, too. Also have a 2001 Navy Blue coupe.

I just replaced the rear bolt...should I cut the bushing too or will the longer bolt do the trick?
Also anybody know how to do the front bushing since I got it maximum down and id like a bit more ...not sattisfied? seems the front is a bit different setup.

Each stock taillight hole results in a small "shelf" under the lens. This shelf tends to collect dust, dirt, leaf chips, etc. due to the partial vacuum in this area. So, this part of the C5 always looks dirty, even after taking a short ride after washing. By making the taillights flush,
the "shelf" is eliminated.

I see it just the opposite. I like the clean look of the flush taillights but think the lowered look is "ghetto". Isn't it nice we can all like our rides without agreeing with one another?

Or just take 10 seconds to clean it and use the tail light gasket mod.

They have bolts to get that front end down, without cutting the bushings

No need to cut the bushing when using the longer bolt. The 7" bolt allows you to lower it big time. I had to use some washers to RAISE it a little when I switched bolts. I was bottoming out trying to get into my driveway.

Great tips here regarding the lowering bolts and flush mounting the tail lights. And, for that matter, I just hate the dirt that collects around the taillight bumper edges.

It is a gasket that goes around the lens to stop dirt from getting under the lens and making it hard to clean.
