Am I getting ripped off?
My headlights - after they close - not when you open them - emit a loud burrrring noise. Dealer says I need a new motor - $450 Can with tax and labor
Does that sound right or could they replace the gear drive which I believe is plastic only??
All help appreciated

Once again the STEALERSHIPS cant seem to do right by the customer. What ever happened to an informed and honest service writer/manager?

Use the flip it trick, but go ahead an order the replacement gears. Will help to have an assortment of 1/4 drive sockets, extensions and elbow(u-joint) knuckles.
Comes out (with proper tools) in about 5 minutes. 20 minutes or so to clean out the old gear mess and install, reseal the new one.
Can be tricky getting all the bolts and nuts back in (total of 6 - I think)...nice to have a magnet just in case you drop one but it is NOT difficult.
I just did mine about a month ago and was amazed how easy it was.
