Default I Got A New Corvette Today!!!

Well, kinda sorta. I replaced the original runflats with some Goodyear GS D3's and the difference is unbelieveable. I've read many many threads on people changing to the non runflats and how much they liked them, but I had no idea the difference was this dramatic. It is really like I'm driving a different car. My GF went with me on the first ride with them and we were only 100 ft out of the driveway and she said she could already tell the difference. It is so quiet and so smooth now, she said this is like a luxury sportscar now. Well, just wanted to share my feelings with the new treads. Tomorrow I'll be getting the plug kit and other things to keep in the car now.

I've had the GS-D3s now for about 2 years. Made a good cruiser even better. Love to go on long trips.

Have plug kit with heavy duty tire plug tools (the T-handle type, not the screw driver type), pliers, gloves, air compressor (be sure you test it to run on your cig lighter outlet and has long enough wire and hose to reach all the tires; one with a combination light and flashing red light would be nice), blanket, small jack (difficult to plug a flat when the hole is inaccessible) and for real emergencies a fix-a-flat aerosole can (yes it will damage the tire pressure $en$sor but better the sensor than your hide), flashlight. Anything I miss?

I noticed a big difference when I switched to my F1 Supercars also. Congrats on the better ride.

Congratulations on the upgrade. Choosing a tread pattern (and, non runcraps for that matter) less conducive to road noise, does make a difference. Well done!

Congrats on the new tires I am purchasing new tires soon and have decided to go with the Goodyear GS D3's as well.

I would suggest getting Continental Tire's ContiComfortKit for emergencies. It is $75 from The Tire Rack and most importantly
It will not damage your tire sensors!!:

Always boils down to runflats having the stiffer sidewalls....... the convenience of the runflat is essentially a tradeoff for ride noise/comfort.

Right before Carlisle I changed to Nitto 555s and like you, I got a new car. Night and day different and I lost no performance.

Would add a wheel chock as you can't guarantee you'll be in a level spot.

The last time I had a tire go, I was in my old trusty 300ZX (collapsible spare) at midnight on the down side of a I-95 overpass in remote spot north of Jacksonville. I was concerned about an 18 wheeler drifting off the roadway as well as someone stopping to offer the wrong kind of "help." As it was, I was attacked by fire ants but did not dare stop the tire change. I did not go to work the next day.

Moral of story: I'll put up with the runcraps.

Here's an interesting article that discusses the Goodyear EMT and other "run-flats".

Most folks that have replaced the run flats with non run flats say the same thing!
