Default Help!!! Water Damage from Hurricane!

Hello,

My car unfortunatly had to stay out in the elements during this Hurricane Olphiea here in North Carolina due to me standing duty. With it being a vert, and the strong winds, i did have some water slip through the top of the door/top of the A pillar area into the car. The carpet is not soaked, but somewhat damp, and the leather is a little damp from what I can tell. What do you do?

As soon as you get sunshine open the doors, put the top down and just let it dry out. If you can get it inside before any sunshine do the same thing and put a fan on it or something else to circulate air. If you get it dried quickly there should be no odor. Good luck

Do as mentioned above if you can. Then, go to the hardware store and get a product called "Damp Rid". If comes in like a 1 gallon bucket and is made to suck moisture from the air and absorb it. Put this on the passenger seat or floor board and just leave it there as long as you can. It will DEFINITELY help draw out any moisture that is in a tight place and help avoid mildew and that musty smell.

If there is a smell, just buy your favorite flavored coffee beans or granules from Barnies or Starbucks, and put the dry granules in a pie pan or something, and leave it in the car. The coffee absorbes the odors, and will leave your car smelling good.

Baking soda works great, if you don't like coffee.

You can use Lexol on the leather and it will compensate for the moisture that the leather may have absorbed.

However, if it is not going to be sunny for a while, try some of the other suggestions here. Don't want to let it sit too long without taking some action.
