Default Driveline Vibration help

02 ZO6, 19K miles. In all gears at 2500 RPMS there's a significant vibration in the driveline.

The car is fine at any RPM below and above 2500 RPMS.

I've only had this car for 2 1/2 months, I hope it's not torque tube related.

The driver side output shaft seal and o-ring were replaced recently, that's when I noticed the problem.

Thanks,

Richie

Hmmm.... if the torque tub bearings have gone bad it can happen, but generally at higher speed and it usually only happens on early model C5s.

If you had a new clutch put in there may be a problem w/ match balancing.

The car still has the original clutch. When I got the car 2 1/2 months ago the vibration wasn't there. I started to notice it after the drivers side output shaft seal and o-ring was replaced recently.

Car at rest...tranny in neutral.

From idle slowly raise the rpm and wait for the vibration. Note the rpm of appearance and disappearance.

Do that with clutch in and clutch out.

This will yield more info supporting a diagnosis. Especially if there is NO vibration detected.

Thanks. I did that this morning and there was no vibration. I can go WOT through the gears and the car is smooth all the way 6500 RPM. It only does it while cruising at 2500 RPM.

I did notice that my pass. rear wheel is missing the stick on balance weights. A couple of weeks ago heard something hit the pass. rear wheel well on the way home and just dismissed it as a pebble that was stuck in the tire.

That might be the missing link.

It's probably a whee/tire. Try cruising in 4th and see if the vibe is at a higher rmp, or try 3rd and see... then you'll know if it's speed related.
