On my way home from dinner last night about 1/2 mile from the house I decide to "blow it out a little", going about 50ish in a 50 zone, I drop it down to 3rd and nailed it, coming up to my street and here comes the blue lights!!!! I pull over and he comes up and the first words out of his mouth is..."had let the ponies run a little huh?" , I said, "I didn't break the limit did I?"(remember I started at the limit) He says, "are you in the Army"(my plate is ARMEOF-!)I said, "yes sir". He ask's for drivers licence and I hand it to him with my military ID card, he says, "I only need this"(the licence),at this time I am sure I am getting a ticket. He looks at it and says..."slow down soldier", I said, "yes sir and thank you."
There are some cool cops left!!!!

I have been pulled over several times here and never received a ticket yet. Of course that might be because I wasn't doing anything wrong. Two of the young Troopers here just wanted to get a look at the Vette. A lot of the cops here won't ticket you unless it is way out of hand. They are checking more for prior arrests, warrants, DUI, and drugs. Fine by me because I don't do any of those. I don't mind their stiff anti DUI stand here either. This year in Alaska 6 people have been killed by drunk drivers. 5 of those 6 were killed within a few miles of our house in separate incidents. I appreciate their anti DUI campaign. I like a cocktail but I don't drink until I am in for the night. No flying or driving left to do then I have a drink.
I have never had a ticket...in my 45 years of driving....I have been stopped about ten times in that time...funny thing is everytime I was stopped it was in one of the four Corvettes I've owned. Never stopped in any of the the other 15 cars I've owned. I have been stopped several times just to check my license and reg.. a couple of times because the officer wanted to check out my car... and a few times when they had me nailed, but let me go... I have no magic...or reason why...

Back in my day, "Got Lucky" meant a whole set of different circumstances. However, glad you caught a break.
