I may have found an alternative to a side mounted garage door opener. I have the side mounted one (Jackshaft type from Liftmaster), but found it very expensive, but the time you add all the options, including safety items.
There is a company called Wayne Dalton which has a garage door opener which installs on the torque tube instead of the side.

I have a call into the company for info on installing on a high lift garage door opener. PM me if you need additional information.

WAY COOL!!!!!
Now, where's the Tool Pantry? The sink? The compressor closet? And the stairs to the attic?
I forgot three of the above myself and now I have to cut/bust out some concrete to get the sink where I really need it to be and out of the way of a tool pantry . . . I still haven't figured out where to put the attic staircase.

Nice garage! Now you've just got to put C5 graphics on the walls!

1) yes, heated and coolel
2) The pipes for the sink are in the far corner (haven't put the sink in yet.. the house is still being built!)
3) no staircase-- the upstairs goes into my bedroom
4) Compressor closet is outside, in a tiny "shed" adjacent the rear. Airlines are feed into the garage.

yes.. the far bay (double deep, for two cars in-line) has a cathedral ceiling, so I can install the inevitable lift :-)
I am a little bit dissapointed though.. they were supposed to cathedral both bays, but for some reason didn't (the two side-by-side bays cannot be cathedraled, since they are directly under the second floor).
Flooring... initially, I'm going to have to just settle for painting. Spend big $$ on the garage, nothing left for good flooring. Maybe next year....
