Hey All, I bought my ZO6 used and wondered how to tell if it has a aftermarket shifter...It has a aluminum shifter ****, which makes me think it has a aftermarket shifter...Just don't know Any Help? Alan
Got a pic? After market shifters will be shorter than stock. On my stock shifter at the bottom of the ****, the shaft almost immideately goes into a larger diameter but then again some after market shifters do also. Remove the shift boot and take a look, that's the only way to know for sure I guess.

i would say find a guy with a vette that he knows is stock. if your throws are the same then its just the ****. i just a B&M in my Z and the throws are A LOT shorter, so you'll def be able to tell. good luck man!
I just measured my stock Z shifter.
Using the gate mark in my stock shift **** (reference mark) I placed a ruler atop the shifter when the trans is in first gear and ran the ruler up against the dash.
In this position the reference mark on my shifter was 3 3/8" from the dash.
Put the trans in second gear and with the ruler in the same position as before (up against the dash) the reference mark was now at just a fuzz (Southern Unit of Measure) under the 9" mark.
My stock shifter throw therefor is 5 5/8" measured at the top of the shifter ****.
Christopher Q, I used the same method you did and came up with 3.75" of throw from 1st to 2nd....Looks like it an short throw shifter..Thanks for help.....Alan
