Default Dyno results from larger MAF?

I was wondering if anybody had any dyno results showing if the larger MAF helps it or hurts it. I have a Granetelli on mine right now and I can't tell if it did anything. They claim 10rrhp but I would have to say I thought about putting my stock one on. Thanks.

i actually have the GMS MAF in my truck, and it has been nothin but problems. always sets off codes. the thing with it is, it is basically the same as stock, but removing the screen. the screen however helps in settling the turbulent air flow into the intake. removal of the screen is thought to increase hp... it may increasejust b/c u can cram more air without restriction... so actual dyno results, i do not have...but it should help somewhat.

I was wondering that. I've heard alot of people say not to use the bigger maf or remove the screen.

Use the stock MAF!!!

The best upgrade is to use the Z06... other than that stay stock!

Of course you could always switch over to SD and loss the MAF all together.

Here's some info on three runs with the MAF screen removed (using the plastic MAF ends). The same day (sorry, can't find the scans, take my word for it), three runs with the factory screen in averaged around ~325 rwhp, so the difference for me with the screen out was about 10 rwhp.

All this depends on how driveable you want the car, and what GM is reflashing your PCM to. I just had experience with this again today. The latest program from GM to address the column lock richens up the car, to the point where mine with the screen in stalled stalled repeatedly at idle when cold, and ran like a pig between 2,500 and 3,500 at wide open throttle. Actually dropped rpm at 2,800 under WOT.

They wouldn't flash me back to the older program (which was fine with the screen in -- I gave up 10 hp for better low- to mid-throttle rpm throttle tip-in), so out of frustration I took out the screen, put the screen-less MAF ends back in, and now the car runs like a champ again.

It's a trail and error thing. You can pick up 10 rwhp, but you need to look at the overall performance and driveablity, and what you are willing to live with on the street.

Oh, BTW -- you can see the driveablility issues in the graph above -- look at the 2,000-2,700 range on the graph.

Hope this helps!

I've seen other posts where members have switched and then experienced problems. Not sure the potential improvement is going to offset the problems you may have. IMHO Stay stock
