Default Arghh HELP!!!

I decided I didnt like where my Raptor shift light was installed at the windows base so I figured I would move it to the top of the pillar. I was told there are only 2 screws holding the knee bolster in place below the steering wheel and that the pillar pops right off. My excess slack in the shift light cord was up in the bolster. So I pull the screws out and Im pull and pushing and prodding and the bolster doesnt seem to want to give and Im to scared to real tug as I can see my adjoining dash areas flex with it WTF!!! So I finally just feel around and free some slack blindly with my hands. The pillar came on and off easily enough.

HERE IS WHERE IT GOES BAD!!!!

When im buttoning things back up i find a clip for the knee bolster on my carpet....I cant figure out where it came from as I cant completely get the bolster off in the first place....ARGHH. Then when I go to put the key in the ignition.....I notice that the key area is all askew....!!!!$@%^!$ Its like it shifted left and the trim ring around it seems funky. Enough so that I can see a space btween it and the dash. i also notice resistance when turning the key !!! Its too late for me to do anything now...BUT I NEED HELP...ADVICE

Go to Ken's great bezel installation how-to and see how the bolster is removed. You need to take another screw out behind the foglight/hatch button bezel before it'll pop off.

Tried that.... When it would come off I did a search and saw that. Remove the screw and it still didnt seem like it wanted to release

I noticed this morning that is off center enough that when I turn the key to turn the car on it keeps the starter engaged a second longer.....I need to figure this out tonight. Is there a trick to getting the thing to release?

Does the fog light switch and screw behind it need to come out also?? I did the temp sensor screw last night.

Also isnt the knee bolster the part I need to remove to install the column lock switch......I think I missed an opportunity last night.

Yes. the switch module needs to come out so you can get the screw out. Also, the clips that hold that section of the bezel in are very tight and require some force to pop out.

Pry the switch module straight out from the panel.

It doesn't look like it from the outside, but you can see that the part of the trim that the foglight switch resides in is attached to the bolster.
