I've found that if I park mine away from other cars, but not too far away, nobody messes with it. On the Forum, you'll only hear the bad stories about parking lots. There are plenty of people here that have had little or no problems so far. Buy it, enjoy it! If it gets hurt, that's what insurance is for.

I still worry about mine, but I figure that's what insurance is for. If someone really wants to steal it while you're in the store buying mustard and condoms, there's nothing you can do to stop them. Best just to enjoy it as much as possible. Don't let worrying stop you from driving it!

I'm careful about where I take mine. IE never goes to a movie theater/mall type parking lot, but mine is not a DD

Peace

I worry about people keying it or banging it so I try to park away from others or near the lights in a parking lot. I still worry about it but as mentioned, that what insurance is for. As for my C3, that one never stays unattended for long.

I worry about someone opening their door on it more than anything. I try to park away from most of the cars, but not to the point that it draws too much attention. Also I park away from the the buggy racks. They are alway packed with carts and they can have a tendence to roll.

I can dig that, and I worry about that all the time, too. It might be the fact that I've had it for a while now, but the fear is starting to settle. The unfortunate reality is that people will vandalize your car if they want to. Parking a decent distance away, without looking like an *** (taking up two parking spots, etc.) will limit this from occurring.

Do you park way at the end of a parking lot away from others or park near a window so you can see it at all times? Have you guys found that people mess with your car a lot or am I just being overly paranoid?
I have two expensive cars - the vette is one of them. I try to park carefully and have a tendency to walk a bit farther in order to park where population is scarce. BUT... I simply plan on $500 per car per year to have touch up work done. That way, I don't feel so badly if dinged. So far, I am WAAAAY ahead and have had only one episode - a vandal keyed my vette -valet parking BTW - and that cost me about $400 to have repainted. In two plus years that is all that has happened to either car. If I hadn't planned for the contingency, I would have been dismayed. Instead, I feel like I am ahead of the game and people are not all that bad.

Yes it's tough. Esp since there are people that enjoy slamming their beaters' doors into shiney vettes...

Solution is easy: take a screw driver to the paint or damage the car yourself... Takes some pressure off.

Just kidding

I parked my 88 coupe, 96 coupe and am now parking my 04 coupe in convient parking spots. The 88 was a daily driver and was also parked at work. Never had a problem.

Just drive and enjoy the car!

I take mine out quite often and just try and find a parking space with lots of room. If I can't find one of those, I at least try and find and end spot where one side of the car is protected. I haven't had anyone mess with the car at all.

And park as close to the side curb as possible thereby giving the next spot the max amount of room.

Same Here.......plus no valet parking and I don't generally drive to dinner where I'm going to be away from the car for several hours. Mine is not a DD either and I'm trying to keep it as pristine as possible.

Randy - funny you should bring that up. I was thinking the same thing.

As for the topic of the thread - Before my wife and I decide to take the vette, we plan out where we're going. If we know the parking will be tight or the event will attract the "grocery getter" crowd, we'll leave the vette home.

The only problem I've ever had was a woman backed into me at a restaurant in her Suburban but otherwise no trouble!
