Default What is this.......

I keep seeing in the magazines a product called "Hypertech Power Programmer". Its a hand help unit that plugs in somewhere to re-map your vets computer system and is suppose to give you all kinds of new and extra horsepower...is this true and has anybody used it with decent results?
Thanks.

Yeah, you can do a lot with it...

Only thing I suggest is, use it if you know what you're doing. I had someone experinced do some editing on my comp. and it made a huge difference on the feel and perf. of my ride. I had an LS1 Edit done... before you go drop 4 bills on a programmer... I'd take into consideration the opinions others will chime in.

JMHO, but when you get into tuning / programming the computer, there are a lot of things you can improve such as shift points, etc., but you can also screw up a lot unless you know what you are doing. I would not advise anyone without serious automotive expertise to tune their own cars. I also had an LS1 Edit done after I installed gears, LT headers, etc., and I love the results. IMO, LS1 Edit is the tuning option of choice on the forum.

Guys Guys he is talking about Hypertech NOT LS1 edit. Hypertch is very very easy to use, but you will not see the same gains as you would with a LS1 type tune. Hypertech is very very basic. If you know how to read you can use hypertech. Check out their web sight.

However ...More bang for the buck with a good tuner in your area...
...then the programming will be for your vette and your modifications...

Many Tuners do a dyno tune and I have seen as much as 25-30HP from the programming alone

OK thanks guys for your imput but lets change gears for a minute...some of you had mistakenly informed me about an LS1 Edit instead of what I had asked for (Hypertech Programmer) which is fine, so lets go there for a few comments please. What is this LS1 Edit version please and who/where do you have it done.
Thanks again

The hypertech is supposed to be real easy to use and all you really do is follow the on screen instructions to tune a few parameters. I don't know if it's the hypertech or not but I know there is a handheld programmer that allows you to download pre-tuned programs for your specific mods. The hypertech is good for a minor tune, but to really get the most out of your car, you've got to have it done by a pro. However, you can pick up a hypertech for a little over $200. I've seen them for sale here on the forum by members who initially bought them, and eventually got a pro tune and didn't have a use for it anymore.

One more thing when you buy a used HyperTech Power Programmar III etc, make sure that that the seller has used it to return his car back to stock settings otherwise you wont be able to use it period.
