Try to push down and turn. Sometimes the o ring will stick.

Tried that but the darn thing will not come off.I know it has to because they take it off at chevy when they do the oil change for me.I have a chrome cap to put on and the darn thing wont move.I will keep trying thanks for your advice.Charlene
If memory serves, it doesn't screw all the way in. It's like a twist-lock. Twist counter-clockwise and pull up. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here....

They may be taking the cap and the neck out together. Try taking the cap and the neck off and working with it off the car. This might give you more working room. I have a 97 and I can take both off with a twist and pull .
Don't feel bad. These oil caps are stubborn. Definitely push down and twist counter clockwise, then pull up. It should come up and off. Hope this helps. Let us know.
