Purchased chrome Zo-6 wheels from Corvettes of Houston and am having GoodYear F-1's installed next week. I'm debating whether to have tire sensors switched to new wheels. I'f I don't, can the warning indicator be turned off?? I've got a 1999. I've heard that pre 2000, the indicator can't be de-activated, and have to keep resetting dash indicator.

No way to turn it off that I know of, other than to hit RESET when you start the car. Question is, why run without the sensors? You can mount them in your new wheels.

You're out of luck. The ability to turn off the sensors came out in 2001 with the Z06 which was the first to eliminate the EMT's. The cars pre 2001 cannot be switched off. If it were me, I'd install the sensors in the new wheels....what can it hurt? I'd rather have the piece of mind.

No, you can't turn the warning off. I run the sensors in the exact same setup as you are getting and it comes in handy should you start losing air pressure.

It was a bit pricey, but I wanted new sensors with my new wheels and tires, so I spent the cash and don't regret it with my non-runflats.
In the interest of improved tire longevity (especially since tires are so expensive to replace when prematurely worn, leaking, etc.), as well as, assistance in driver maintenance, and, driver safety: Tire sensors are an extraordinary and important driver safety device. These remote sensors made by Schrader in the U.S. have now become o.e. on most American and European automobiles. And, readily alerts the driver to the exact tire afflicted with low air pressure before the issue evolves into a more serious condition such as premature tire wear, tire-belt separation, blowout, etc.. Be Safe.
