Locking gas cap??

I for one, am also looking to get one. I'm going to get a LeMans style gas lid (Breathless) and it doesn't have a locking mechanism. There are a lot of haters out there, and don't need some yahoo putting sugar or sand in my gas tank.

Geez

For the life of me, I couldnt event get the hose to the point where it would pick up any fuel with a full tank. So in conclusion... even if they did break the fuel door and pry off the locking cap... they would not be able to get fuel out of your car anyway..

YES, if their intention was to steal gas, then a lock on the gas cap WILL most likely deter them from further getting into the tank. If there was a $10,000,000 diamond in your gas tank, then of course it wouldn't deter them.
Furthermore, if you have damage to your fuel lid area, then that is a good red flag to indicate that your fuel has been tampered. That will allow you to have it investigated further before you ruin your engine in case the tank was contaminated w/ foreign substance such as sand or sugar, or feces, or who knows what.
Sometimes, you gotta think outside the box and break away from the "bad analogy" and "urban legends" that gets repeated way too often w/ out thought or merit
