Way back when, I found a '69 roadster, 350/300hp car, numbers matching, in a garage.
Picked it up for $2500, did full front and rear 1-piece clips from ecklers(it had been hit on almost all body panels), some other upgrades/repairs, and that's about where it stopped.
I was in school, the car was not practical in ct winters, so I sold it for $10,500.
Kind of wish I still had it, but I like the z06 much better.
My first was a 67 vert, origionally a 427 car but had a 327/350 in it when I got it. I paid 6500 for it with both tops. It is the only car I sold that I regret selling.
First sports car was a Triumph TR6, then a Triumph TR7, then a Porsche 911SC (almost bought a C4 when they first came out, but they were only available with automatics back in '83/'84-bought the Porsche instead) and then, my first Vette - a 2002 Z06.
My first Corvette was a 1966 convertible / hardtop. Under the hood was a very simple 327 4-bbl backed up with a 4 speed transmission. When I look back and how uncluttered the engine compartment was.
My first Vette was a '63 vert with 2 tops. Bought it in "68 for $1800 and put a bunch of money into it to get it back to like new condition.
Even rebuilt the 327/340 to better than new performance. (balanced, full Lunati rotating assembly and lots of other goodies.) Long story short, it was stolen in fall of '69 never to be seen or heard from again.
Only car I ever cried about losing. Present ride is my '03 ZO6, modded of course!
First was a 68, 427 vert. What a scary ride! Lots of parts to keep it on the road. 2nd a 72 350 auto, a real dog even after headers, cam & manifold. The Z06 is incredible in comparison.
1976 4 spd L48 STINGRAY, all options, besides L82. It is sitting in the garage beside the 2001 ZO6. Great old muscle car (not a lot of HP, but adequate for the handling and brakes). Be home from Iraq to drive the ZO6 for the first time soon.
