Did you buy the car new or used? If used, then someone may have bypassed the DRLs. I think there's an electronic module that does this.

Otherwise, I can't help.

Could be bad bulbs. Put one out and take a voltmeter to it; run a continuity test across both filaments (dual filament bulb.) If the bulb is good then I'd move on to the fuse panel.

it is for the running lights in the REAR of the car.

as for the bulbs, i am gonna check them today, but it doesnt make sense how, one filament on all 4 bulbs went out.

i looked in the fuse pannel last night and i didnt see any fuses that mentioned the tail/running lights. so i checked ALL the fuses and they were all good. i looked over the relay names and it didnt "appear" that any of them were related, maybe someone can tell me otherwise? thanks.

I know it doesn't seem logical that the bulbs went out, but I've seen it happen more than once, so I'd start there. If the bulbs are good, then I'd check the ground for those circuits. While you have the bulbs out check for +12v at the bulb connector, if no power and/or ground with the lights turned ON then you should be able to follow the path to the appropriate area. No +12v means most likely bad relay or bad switch (since you checked the fuses. There is a fuse panel under the hood by the battery and one in the passenger footwell.)

I believe everything in the fuse boxes are numbered and correspond to the owners manual.

and to add to that, i just checked the bulbs today, they are all good. does anyone know which wires to check for 12V?

i was in there this morning but i dont remember now if there were different colored wires or not. also if it helps, i have the euro tail lights, with the little clear part in the bottom half that light up amber for the turn signals.

thanx!

Remove the floormat, there is a removable panel under there. The fusebox is underneath that. Check the #6 fuse, it should say pk/tlamps or similar.

alrighty then, #6 fuse is good, and just for piece of mind, i checked the rest of the fuses and they were good.

on a side note, whilst i was under thurr, i noticed this lonely wire with no home

i took a few pics of it, it was coming out of the top end of a connecter that of course i have no idea where it comes from or goes too. i did a little poking around with my test light and it is def, not involved with the tail lights. i found - with the car off and + with the key in the run position, and + with the car running. there was also a little bit of black tape residue on the end of the wire, like it was taped somewhere but i didnt see any tape under there.

any ideas where this wire goes? but more importantly, any ideas about the tail lights?

oh yea, here's the pics...

Default Turn signal multiswitch

Buy it at GMpartsdirect.com and put it in yourself. Start by following knee pad removal instructions here. click here Chevy Dealer wanted $240.00 for part..

I know you are not installing column lock bypass, (though you could kill two birds with one stone!). This will get your knee panel off....

i have installed a turn signal switch before and it isnt too bad, however i was hoping to aviod that. i'd like to test around a bit and do some troubleshooting to find out exactly why its doing this though. i have a multimeter and a test light and lots of time.

but on the other hand, the car is still covered under warranty and if it is the turn signal switch, im just gonna take it to a dealership, its not worth the time to do it myself.

The harness you show pics of is the accessory power harness on the 03's and earlier. Used for aftermarket audio, radar detector, etc. I would post in the tech section and see if someone can post up an electrical diagram. I wouldn't buy any parts until you can isolate the issue. With one of the bulbs out and the parking lights turned ON, test for power and ground at the bulb socket. You are lacking one or the other. If the ground is good then work your way forward. You said the fuse is good so I'd check the relay next. Might try swapping it with another known-good one and see what happens. If it's working I would first check the wiring at the relay behind the relay box to see if the trigger wire coming from the switch is getting power. That will also help you isolate the wire colors. If you have a trigger power output then you know the switch is working. If not, then work your way to the column and check again. If you aren't getting output at the column and everything else that's controlled by that assembly works, then odds are you are getting source power and the switch is bad. If you have other things not working then it could be something else.

Also, in most GM's the parking light relay trigger wire is brown (~18 ga), not sure if the vette is the same or not, but it likely is.
