Default B & B Exhausts

O.K. They are not for the faint of heart, but, they claim no resonance at cruising speed.

Are they reasonable around town without getting on it and bearable on the highway at cruising speed?

Just looking for opinions. They are apparently very loud at wide open throttle.

VERY LOUD in everything except 6th gear then they are very reasonable. If you can keep the tach under 2000 they are not bad.

I have the PRTs with Speedway tips on our '01. I love the sound and get many compliments. The only time they wear on me is in 6th gear around 1400 and 1500 rpm, which is about 68-70 mph. The drone gets to you. I have not attempted to install any soundproofing yet. I just go faster.

Tons of interior noise too. Don't let them fool you. Especially at 68-70..which, ironically, is my highway cruising speed. Just perfect....

I just installed the Bullet system and to be honest it's pretty quiet. I'm not crazy, I think the reason for this is my car is a CA car and has precats. I don't experience any resonance and it's not nearly as loud as everyone is saying. If you have precats you'll be just fine.

Depends on the type of B&B exhaust you want. I have the Route 66 which are a tame version they offer. It sounds much better than the stock system, but I did have a problem with resonance in 6th gear and also with popping when slowing down. Solved much of these problems by installing an x-pipe on the car.

If you dont like resonance then you will not like this set up.I had them on my car and they drove me absolutely bonkers aftera week.BTW my other daily driver is a 5.0 mustang with no cats and 2 chamber flowmasters so you can get an idea of how bad they must have sounded.JER

I installed the Bullets a week ago and they are loud, but I didn't notice any resonance or drone. I do have stock manifolds and cats on my Z and made a partition. This past weekend, I fabbed a custom 3" x-pipe and OMG it sounds Bad A$$!!!! Took most of the popping out on decel, lowwered the tone even more, and smoothed out the note throughout the range of rpms. Can hardly hear at all at 70-75mph, mild around town under 2000rpm, and sounds wicked when you open it up.

Would defineately recommend with an x-pipe.

I would agree that it depends on what type of B&B you've got. I've got the bullets and love the sound but they're def loud as hell under any kind of acceleration. cruising in sixth gear has a lil drone but nothin rolling down the windows and turning up the music cant handle.

I have the B&B bullets on a 98 coupe. sounds great. But, pretty loud inside also. Tried to install a pre cut insulation kit in rear. Did not go well. Did not want to use spray glue tried to just use AC tape. Removed insulation. will try X pipe.

Default Love the PRT's

I have the B & B PRT's and just love them. There is some noise at about 1500 to 2000 but not enough to ruin the drive.

Default louder

Ok I have to ask how much louder are the bullets than the Borla stingers? I have long tubes and hi flo cats going through stingers love the sound at wot would not mind more at low rpms.

I too have the B&B PRT with speedway tips. I find it quite tame around town. Then when you get on it, it's monster loud. I also having the popping when slowing down, but I think it sounds badass At highway speeds, the system is really not bad. I'm installing atrunk partition I made, so this should make it even better.

I have an A4 vert w/ blower. Sweet PRT's quad ovals and I'm loving them. Love the burble when cruising in town, and at WOT you will be heard baby! Some drone as mentioned by others usually around 1500 rpm which at first I thought was slightly annoying, but now I don't even notice it. I took a buddy of mine on a ride and he kept saying "what resonance" it's just a little drone. Resonance is where you feel like your fillings will come loose out of your teeth which is not the case here.

If the car still has cats, I don't think it could be that loud. Put PRTs on my 01 2 weeks ago, love the sound, but I personally think it could be louder, would have gone with the bullets, but everything I had read said the PRTs were very loud, and the bullets were even louder! Most of time just in traffic or cruising around, I forget I have them.

If you have gutted cats, high flow cats, headers or a combination, I'm sure they might have too much drone for you. (I'm used to my GN, with the hooker cat back, now that's drone!)

I must be the only person who loves loud, I luv the Bullits, personally I don't have them but I have a set of the Mid America cat backs that are very simular to the Bullits, I paid $500 for them, course since the Bullits came out Mid America doesn't sell my design anymore.

bullets are quiet below 4k, sometimes i get some nice popping on decel, one was really loud i tried duping it a few times, but couldn't figure it out; go loud or walk(i've only got 30 miles on the system so far, listen in person first)
