Default Electrical Gremlins - advice needed

Hi everyone,

Since putting in my Halltech Stinger (including pulling out the shroud and cutting it), I've been having some gremlins. First, my exterior temp sensor (which is under the nose) works intermittently, as does the horn. I've been living with this for about a month or so, but yesterday the passenger electric window & lock controls stopped working, and this morning on the way to work, everything conked out (gas gauge to zero, all sensors out, Service Tire Mon Sys, Service Active Handling Sys, Reduced Engine Power, the whole nine). It's now parked in my garage with the battery disconnected.

The behavior sure seems like a loose ground to me - are there grounding points around the shroud area that may be loose? I really hope it's not the computer.

Thanks in advance,
Rich

First thing I would check is the battery and what's under it "leaking?" And make sure your A/C drain isn't backing up and leaking on your electronics pull your passenger side foot well panel and check if all is good and dry. Just a thought Sorry just reread your post and noticed you have looked at battery

Hope this helps you start.

I agree with Vinny... sounds like a battery issue, but the pass. side issues might just be coincidental and your door control module may have gone bad.

Default Thanks!

Thanks a million for that diagram - that is precisely what I needed!

I should have mentioned that I do have a sealed Yellow Top - acid leakage not an issue. It very well could be this A/C drain thing though - I'll check that out.

Man I love this board.

There is a Owner's Manual for Yellow Tops. It's got some great maint./recharging procedure, etc. I just got one the other day as well. My understanding is, if the yellow top drains down... it takes A LONG time for it to recharge.

Also, I was in Sears and noticed they had chargers with a specific setting for Deep Cycle Batteries. Not sure what the difference will be from conventional recharger's, but made me scratch my head...

Good luck.

I had the EXACT same issues this weekend.

Problem: Passenger Window control module (RDCM) somehow was causing a short. I disconnected the module in the door and everything works perfect. Going to be ordering a new window controller tomorrow.

Give that a shot before you go searching for grounds as that can be a PITA. I disconnected eveything plugging into the black box.

Thanks,
Mike
