I've had the clear license plate protector on the front of my car for a couple years, due to the fact that we have to have a visible front license here. It sure protected the license plate but all the bugs, moisture and dirt would keep getting into the crevices.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, while at a car show, ran into another forum member who had done quite an interesting mod to his protector. I was really impressed by the look. Hope the cops are too.
Just seems to hide everything that needs to be hidden.
Whatcha all think.

Yeah, CF member Yellohh (sp) did that a while back. I tried to do the same with my TR coupe but painted too much area and the plate wasn't visible enough. Ended up just running without a plate and takin' my chances.

Guess it's hard to do. Have to have it done professionally
That is the only one I'd put on my car for a front plate.

Hey, does Jetz know about this? How's the new shifter working out?
I also run the clear cover. Even though its illegal in MD (any cover, clear or not is illegal), I want to protect my front vanity from being all mangled up. Oh yeah, one thing to check are the screws. I found them rusting (yes I drive in rain/snow). So, I went down to Home Depot, got some #4 STAINLESS sheetmetal screws that have the same pitch thread, and boom, no more rusty screws!
It is a nice mod - however, be aware that in Texas this will be illegal.
Can you provide the link for this? I know that it is illegal to use the plastic covers that distort the image from an angle (so the toll road cameras can get you for not paying) but thought that was for the rear only.

tom...
This is interesting, although it doesn't cover a clear frame that is unpainted. It seems to make the ones above illegal as they definately obscure some of the wording. http://www.snopes.com/politics/traffic/texasplate.asp
