I am a bit new to the C5........ Is the Z06 the only C5 with the non-removable hardtop? I was looking at an advertised '04 C5 with this type of roof but they didn't say it was a Z06. Any info? Thanks.
1999-2000 Fixed Roof Coupes (same body style as the Z06 but not Z06's)
2001-2004 Z06's (same FRC body style)
That's it....
Here's a good example of the 2.
The car in the foreground is and FRC, non-removable hardtop.
The car in the back is a coupe with removable roof panel.
ANY C5 you see with the roof line like the car in the foreground is a non removable top car whether it a Z06 or not.
ANY C5 you see like the car in the back has a removable roof panel.
In the above pic, that Z06 isn't stock. exhaust, power radio antenna, chrome wheels, and plus sized drilled/slotted brake rotors. Difficult to tell from this angle, but it looks like it has euro taillights, and the rear fender reflector is amber instead of red.
Glennm27 is right on with the FRC years and Z06 years. Those were the only fixed roofs on the C5s.
The coupe comes with one of 2 types of removable roof panels: a transparent blue tinted roof panel (which looks like black from the outside), or a painted roof panel, or you could get both. Either can be removed easily and stored in the hatchback area.
Great description Great pics. Thanks
So, just to clarify, the fixed roof coupe style WAS available from 99-2000, but it was not a Z06? I didn't know that.

Yes, in '99 and '00, the FRC was the cheap vette, as far as the price tag comparison went to the coupe and convertible. Then the General realized "Hey, we're selling every one we make? Why don't we make it an expensive performance version?" So they threw in a LS6 engine, bigger wheels/tires, etc, and the the Z06 was reborn in '01. I think you'd have to go back to '63 for the last time they had an RPO called Z06.
