Default Epoxy Garage Floors

I'm currently looking to put down a Epoxy garage floor. I have read a bunch of threads on the different brands out there.

I will be shot blasting the floor and have a couple of questions.

1. Do I need to scrub the top layer of concrete if I'm shot blasting? I did the plastic bag test and the floor doesn't have moisture. There is no sealant or paint on the floor. There are really no stains. If I do scrub the floor with a TSP or Degreaser before shot blasting how long should I wait before applying the Epoxy?

2. Has anyone had any experience with the following two products? Sherwin Williams ArmorSeal 1000 or Benjamin Moore M40 Epoxy floor coating? I want to use a professional grade quality that is 100% epoxy.

3. Neither of these products comes with decorative chips, but I will probably buy some to put down. Do you need to do a clear coat on top of the chips?

Thanks

look up all my posts and within the last month or 2 I wrote a very descriptive post about epoxy coverings....and btw if your shot peening the floor I would think (unless you had any problem areas where there was oil or other solvent) you just have to acid wash it (etch) if there was oil yes degrease it. Let it dry at least 72 hrs if not more...good luck

I'm 3/4 done tiling mine with VCT tile. You might want to check it out as an alternative.

I did mine approx. 4 years ago--epoxy brand.

First, I powerwashed the flow and left the door open till the next day to dry ( left the door open approx. 4 - 6 inches over night).

Then I applied the primer, then the paint. I chose the dark blue color and it makes my millennium yellow vette look cool inside.

Make sure you use Muradic Acid to clean and etch the concrete. If not you will have peeling. Power washing is not enough.

Benjamin Moore stuff is good as I see it in commercial buildings I have done like water pump stations. I think I am going to use it also this winter.

A nice option to consider that is very attractive and easy care.

Another option to consider is Ceramic Tile.

Default Tile good but saw something new

Having layed several rooms of ceramic tile, its beautiful and tough, but best have an absolutely flat surface and heavy tile. A vette is light relative to an Escalade but heavier than the average weight ceramic tile is used to.

Once again on the SPEED channel, they were pushing a water based
garage "paint" that reportedly doesn't need all the heavy cleaning of some of the others...seems like they said available everywhere, which I take to mean the "box" stores...this was probably on the program "My Classic Car". They were really pushing it so probably paid ad. Anyone know anything about it?

Back in '01 I used the standard stuff from Home Depot, and it went on easy, worked well and didn't peel, although the vettes tires left constant tire marks, even from just sitting for a day or two.

Vinyl Composite Tile. Like they use in schools and car dealerships. Mines finished and looks great. If we ever get some sun in the DC area again I'm going to get some pictures of the floor and finally my vert. I'll post them when I do but it's not looking good for the sun thing.
