My questions is that I'm looking to purchase a set of LG long tubs for my 04 Z16. Can I used the stock exhaust system or do I have to purchase a complete catback system? As far as the install, can the average vette wrench turner do this install? Is there the standard problems area's to be weary of? What HP gain can I look to gain with just long tubs and a dyno tune?
I presently have baseline dyno of 363wrhp/354TQ. Only mods are a blackwing, carbon fiber airbridge and smooth coupler. Any help in making a bang for the buck decision would be a great help prior to making a big purchase.
Mike, no you don't need a new catback. Your existing one will work fine with whatever Long tubes/x-pipe combo you purchase. The stock Ti exhaust actually flows very well and since it's titanium its very light too. Only real reason to swap it is if you want to try a different sound.
These are just guesstimates but if you go with the off-road version I would say around 25 rwhp maybe more maybe less and the catted version I'd say ~20rwhp maybe more maybe less.
As far as the install, I am not sure exactly how hard or easy it is..sorry can't help you with that.
Wow, those look like great #'s for only those mods. I gotta find a dyno around here sometime I would think the install shouldn't be too hard for the average wrencher. Good luck.
Mike,
Go for it. I have the LG LT's on mine with the stock mufflers, the new high flow cats and an LS1 Edit. It sound's bitchin' and RIPS.
I did it myself (on a lift) in 6 hours. Do a search for my post on the job.

Thanks guys for all responses, I will make a command decision real soon know that the weather is starting to cool down. If I'm unable to purchase a new C6-Zo6, then I'll keep my Z16 and put a Magnacharger on it.
