You want to make sure that you absolutely keep water out of the balsa. If it has gotten wet you need to get it dried out thoroughly before you repair it. Then you need to make sure that you have a watertight repair with glass and resin, and then coat it with a sealer to make sure it won't leak.If the wood has water in it when it is resealed, when it gets hot it can expand and cause delamination that would be a mess...
Dry it out and properly repair it, this is no place for cheap putty or half-azzed repairs.
