I had a minor accedent with my car. I brought it to Ferman Chevrolet in Tampa Fl for an estemate. They refused to work on the car saying that it is an unsafe vehicle. Because the tires on it are too big and the car is too low to the ground, and that they refused to be responsible for the safety of this car. My car has CCWs all around, 295x18s in the front and 335x18s in the rear. It has been lowered 1/2 inch. The adjuster denied the claim. So I was told to bring it for a second opinion, which I did. State Farm sent out the same adjuster who denied the claim again. The adjuster is saying the damage is pre-exsisting! I've been with State Farm for over 20 years, no moving violations, 2 damage claims in that 20 year period.
Two different sources told me that Chevrolet has problems getting these cars on their lifts and does not like to work on them. I was told that they lose mony on the warrenty work so they would just like to not have to work on them at all. They would rather work on Cobalts and cavilers. One person now has a successful business as a result of this mindset at chevy here in Tampa. I would not buy a car from a dealership that will eventually refuse to work on that car. If any of you have State Farm Auto ins. Beware PS does anyone have a good lawer that will handle this type of case here in Tampa Fl?
The minor damage was as follows:
Drivers side front fender mounting where it bolts in the vacinity of the front door. It is slightly out and you can now put your hand in the gap if you pull the bottom of the front fender away from the car. The drivers side rocker pannel is scraped under the area near the seat.
Both rims on the drivers side got the beads grinded off. (State Farm replaced both of them) The rocker pannel on the pass. side was scraped, The Tire pressure system went dead, and now the car keeps throwing intermittent trouble codes for the ABS and traction control . The same apprasier came out to the second shop and told the owner I don't know why I am even looking at this car I've already seen it at a chevy dealership and the damages are preexsisting. Chevy also stated that ther was suspension damage and that the car was dangerous. After a careful going over by a respected Vett shop. I was told that there was absolutly no damage to the suspension what so ever.

You can try contacting your state's Department of Insurance and see if they can help with State Farm. If that doesn't work, try the Attorney General's Office or just get a lawyer. You could also try arbitration, if your insurance company offers that option in the event of a disputed claim. If you know that the car had no pre-existing damage, then don't let them off the hook. Good luck.
