My oil gauge is pegged out at 80 psi and the DIC is reading 130!! When I turn off the engine and then turn the key to battery, all the dials do their routine sweep but the oil pegs out at 80 and the DIC reads 129,

Your oil pressure isn't really 80 PSI. On the DIC it will read 129 PSI. The problem is the oil pressure sensor. Here's a tech tip on how to DIY, and at the very minimum explains the problem. Good Luck!
it really isn't that hard to do, but be careful when you put the intake back on, because if you bump it it could break and then you will have to get another one. Oh, there is also a very small vacuum hose on the back that you need to make sure goes back on or your car will sputter and idle rough and that one can be fun. I ended up buying some tubing from home depot and making it a little longer. Just a few tips that I didn't see covered in the DIY post (great help BTW).
Wow you guys saved me from what was sure to be a headache to say the least. Yesterday after driving about a block from the house on my way to work , I noticed the exact same symptoms as mentioned above. My heart started pounding like crazy and I started sweating like I was waiting for the results from my wifes pregnancy test. lol Anyway, I drove back home and called up the Chevy dealership close by and told them I would be bring ing the car in for service. I was under the impression my GMPP was still in effect. Well before I took it in I read the above mentioned information and told the service rep that I needed to have my oil pressure sensor needed to be replaced. No problem. Dropped it off and then get to work and get a call from my wife and she said that the dealer called and said that GMPP had expired in July. Damn just my luck. There goes the exhaust I was going to buy. Anyway, told the dealer to go ahead and replace it. They stated no problem and thus I thought I would have my baby back home repaired. Notice I said thought. Well, now realize that I took the car in at 1:30pm. We have called all day to only hear excuses as to why it isn't finished. Well come to find out it hasn't even been looked at yet! Damn this ticks me off big time. Needless to say we told them that we will pick her up and I will do the repair myself. So the whole point of this post is to say thanks for all of the information. I felt bad anyway because I actually wanted to do it myself after reading how to do it. Thanks for all of the information!
Good decision! You'll learn a lot about your car, as well as save a TON of money. You will find it's actually amazing easy.
After the dealer screwed up my oil change (not screwing the plug on tight), I no longer take it to any mechanic unless I absolutely have to. If they can screw up that badly on an oil change, can you imagine how badly they can screw up on anything else?
