Just had MSI put a B&M Ripper on this am. Its got a shorter throw and feels very sure on the shift. I am now able to easily powershift. The throw is so short I gotta get used to using it. Other feedback on shifters out there?
Congratulations on the new shifter. I have the Hurst and love it. But I believe any name brand aftermarket shifter is better than stock. The main problem with the stock one is that it is designed to feel like a "wet noodle". Some folks cut the stock shifter to make it shorter, but that doesn't correct the true problem with it. You just end up with a shorter "wet noodle"!!
Shifting should be short, true, and crisp (positive). The aftermarket shifters provide you with this. One of the best mods I've done...hands down!!
I installed the Hurst about a month ago, and now I realize why the short shifter is one of the first mods that everyone does. The throws are quite a bit shorter than stock, shifts are firm and positive, and the 2-3 shift is almost impossible to blow due to the centering feature of this shifter. You'll definitely love this mod!

I have the Breathless Performance Products shifter in my Z06 and I love it. My only complaint is the transfer of extra noise into the cabin because of the lack of a damper on the aftermarket shifters, but this is why they feel so much better than the stock unit.
I have done some things to the shifter to quiet it down and it is much better. The only noise now is upon hard acceleration. I still see it as a more than desirable trade off for the precision and feel of the BPP shifter over the row boat stock unit. I will never understand why Chevy put out a car like the Z06 with such a sloppy shifter...go figure.
The main reason I went with the BPP shifter is due to the fact that the handle can be adjusted to 16 different positions and it is easy to get it just like you want it...a very impressive piece all in all.
I forgot to add that I have a black anodized aluminum round shift **** with the Z06 logo on it. I like this shift **** alot.

I agree. A nice and simple upgrade that makes a difference.

I have the B&M, and after having driven stock, Hurst and the B&M, I still like the B&M best. Here's the bottom line - there is no single element of the car more personal than the shifter and shift ****, except maybe the steering wheel. This is your tactile contact with the car.
You body shape and size, the distance how far back you keep your seat, the length of your arms, the size of your hand, your tolerance for higher effort versus lower effort, and on and on - all influence which will feel best to you. I have friends that love their Hurst, and others swear by the BPP. I like the Ripper. None of us is wrong - we're all different.
Well, had no problem going out and power shift 2nd to 3rd, WOT and never let off. Only problem, car's pcm did not like this. seems to have lost some power. I guess I gotta unplug battery or reflash pcm. no codes...
I installed it first with a round **** and didn't like the feel... I changed out the **** to an aftermarket Vette Essentials redone color stock one and it easier to shift IMHO....
