Default Someone please help me!

Well i realize that this probably isnt where i should be posting this, but i just have a small question! My problem is my car was hit and the person is paying for it to get painted, so I took it in the monday before last to be painted at Bill Heard Chevrolet. Well it drove just fine when i took it in and they told me they would have it done by wensday since i needed it by thursday morning to get to work. Wensday morning they told me that the paint didnt match right so they hadnt painted it cause they had to have someone come in and and match the paint and then do another blow-off spray.
Here is where the problem comes in. I was very lenient and didnt mind waiting for my car so that it would look good, the problem was, it was supposed to be done thursday night and i could pick it up friday after work. Friday rolls around and half way through the day I get a call saying that the car hasnt been painted cause they lost my number and have been trying to get a hold of me.
??? Appearantly the motor that pulls the pin out of my car so that the steering wheel can turn, broke, so they couldnt turn my steering wheel. I understand that there was a recall on this and asked them about it and they told me they tried performing the recall but it doesnt actually cover the motor. They told me the motor is what broke. They want $191 for the part and 3 hours worth of labor to fix the problem so they can fix my car. Since it broke at the dealer and all (I drove it in working fine) should i have to pay for that???? Someone please let me know if im getting jerked around here! I really would appreciate any help i can get!

Thats BS, I would ask to speak to a manager and complain to high heaven. Not sure exactly what else to do besides that. Hopefully someone else can help with better advice. Good luck.

PS-I take it the car is not under warranty any more?

FIRST, try and work it out with the Dealership. Don't talk to the flunky's, they can't make decisions. Ask to talk with the manager, if he won't do anything, work your way up the chain. If no one will work it out with you, call GM and complain to them directly. 1-866-932-4368

Also, let the dealership people know you will be talking to GM if they won't work something out to your satisfaction. Dealerships HATE having GM involved in these issues.

Good Luck !

...Excellent advice......

Don't sign for anything until you get this issue resolved. If their maintenance broke the part, you should not be liable.....

Why is it that so many of these members in need of assistance do not at least put the city where they live in their profile?? Seems like the odds would be a lot better of getting some help...... JMO

One last thing. IF you have to pay the bill to get the car out of the shop put it on a credit card. You might have a case to argue payment at a later date. Credit cards are not ment to be used this way but this might give you more leverage later on.

FYI. They performed the steering lock recall free on my 1998 last month, not under warranty

LOL no im not a public school teacher, and yeah the problem is, they are telling me its not a part of the recall... they told me the recall only covers a reprogramming and not the little "motor" thing that removes the pin!
