i just replaced the rear stock shocks with QA1's. in doing so, the old shocks with the sensor wire had to be removed. now the shock malfunction indicator comes on and i cannot go more than 80MPH. what can i do about this?
What's the model year of your car and what suspension do you have? F45/F55, etc? You might want to update your profile with this info too. Folks here will need this type info to help you. Good luck.
F45 was the Selective Real Time Damping suspension used in model years 2002 and earlier C5s. A dealer's shop or someone with a Tech II Scan Tool can disable the F45 function for you. Also, some here have used resistors to bypass the F45 functionality. Here's a few past threads that talk more on the subject:
Personally, I too would go with the Tech II method. As Patches mentioned in his reply to the first thread above, it's much cleaner and you can re-enable it anytime if you decide to revert the car to stock. Also, I would highly recommend that you replace the old F45 front shocks first if you haven't already. There no telling how the old F45 shocks would react once you turn of the functionality in the car's BCM and a competent shop most likely would not turn the functionality off with the old F45 shocks still in place.
