There's quite a few insulation/heat reflecting/sound deadening products people use w/ great success. Personally I race my car and don't care to bother with it. The Z06 has less insulation and thinner carpet for weight savings.
That said, some remove their entire interior carpeting etc and line it all with these different products to help with road noice and tunnel heat. Try seartching for it.
Also... Dan at http://www.exoticvette.com/ sellse pre-cut kits... oh yeah and he's a buddy of mine and a forum member/dealer. Look at the "insulation kit" section
I ripped out my carpet and did the heat/sound deadener thing. Did absolutely nothing for the heat in the console(gum still melts in it on long drives) and sound deadener is marginally noticeable, if at all. Scott
Has anyone had any luck with blocking the heat from the console, if so, please share
Thanks
Yes, I have. Remove the cats! Actually, the car is just for the track although I will occasionally put a street mile or two on it. But, what we did was leave enough room to bolt the cats back on should the need arrise. I still have a couple of years left before the car has to go through the smog check. Not only is the console area much much cooler but the oil and water temps are down. Unwanted side effect is noise. It was already loud enough with the long tubes and Borlas but now it sounds more like a vintage racer.

Another option, if you have headers and an x pipe with hi flow cats, is to move the cats back to between the x pipe and exhaust instead of between the headers and x pipe. The cats are what gets it hot, but I still wouldn't remove them because I'm one of those tree huggers.
Don't ya love it!! My six year old runs out of the garage with his hands over his ears if he sees me heading for the Z with the keys in my hand.
I know what you mean. The ambient noise in our neighborhood is pretty low, that is until I roll up the garage door and start the car. Kinda grabs you by the chest...I love it. However it does have its downside. I was at Laguna Seca last month. It was a 92db weekend. The noise meter is about 60 off the track between turns 5 and 6. They blackflagged me at 102db
I am just a regular "mature" guy with a stock off the shelf 2009. I don't race it, etc. I finally got to a point where I was flying more than driving, so I bought this as my everyday car. By reading all the threads, I assume now that the heat in the console is normal. Some keys and metal items inside get quite hot.
Apparently there is nothing simple and easy to stop that heat. I can feel it on my right leg when driving, especially when it is close to 110 degrees like to day in Raleigh
2 pieces of "Dynamat" works fine to reduce the heat. Bought them from
MGW shifter. One piece under the console and the other along the left side of the tunnel.
