When I first came here I said I'd never mod. I am a purist. OK, well I'm thinking that the reason I won't mod, at least short term is more driven by the following math equation:

Mod = Money
MONEY impacts everything in life….whether we like it or not!

I agree with the premise that it takes money to mod. But not all mods take a lot of money. There are some that can give you a higher level of enjoyment on your Vette without spending a fortune.
What I've learned is to buy the best quality first time out of the gate. If you buy some cheap trinket, you'll regret it and wind up replacing it. Another point is to decide on some "theme" by this I mean if you want to accent your silver car with black for example - your appearance accessories should keep with the theme. Also - decide what kind of mods you want to do - are you going to concentrate on appearance enhancing mods, engine performance mods, audio mods, handling mods....I think you get my point. Once you've decided what you want - then save your money until you can afford to buy the best.
As far as being a purist - if you want to keep your car bone stock, there's nothing wrong with that. But understand that even though GM did an outstanding job on this car, there are things that they didn't do due to budget constraints and pricing constraints. Modding gives you the opportunity to improve on a great platform. If you think you're going to affect resale value, keep the O.E.M. parts and return them to the car if and when you sell it.
Mods really improve your enjoyment, and that's really what these cars are all about - ENJOYMENT!
I thought the same way for about a month after I got mine, that changed pretty quick now I will always find a way to get what I want for my baby. The looks and respect it gets after modding just makes you so proud and Ronald McDonald couldn't have a bigger smile!! I luv it and once you get started it never ends, the possabilities are endless especially when your tryin to be different than everyone else. Try it I guarentee you'll like it!!

I think it's:
Vette + Forum = - $ = Angry Wife/girlfriend = Doghouse (garage)More time on Vette = Happiness!
On either end of the spectrum... You're happy! I'm with Rob on this...
I totally agree with Randy (blacksedan87)....
Mods don't have to be expensive. Just do them yourself. The smallest details are the best sometimes It's all about the journey!

Yep. I started down the slippery slope with a few cosmetic mods like a chrome exhaust plate, S/S inserts, and BSM removal. Then I needed a new battery and went for the Red Top. Then I needed new tires (really) and went for the Michelin Sport Pilots. Since I was doing tires, I went for the chromie Z06 wheels. Since I was changing wheels, I went for the drilled/slotted rotors. Since I did that, I went for the ceramic pads. Then I saw a great price on a GP for a Corsa exhaust w/ Pro-tips and X-pipe. It's on the way...
The slippery slope. If you don't watch out, it'll get you.
P.S. Next up is either a Donaldson Blackwing or Halltech Stinger intake system. After that, I promise, I'm done.
Mods = Free time away from wife/girlfriend/(boyfriend) = Therapy
actually it would be costly time away from wife/gf/bf, not "free" time since the mod cost you money. And if you need mods as an excuse to get away, perhaps you shouldn't be there in the first place
