Default Replace Clutch Plates - How much $ ?

I was getting a " marbles in a can sound " from the back when starting out in 1st. The stealership is saying rear clutch plates are in need of replacement. They are quoting me $1400.00. Is this anywhere close to being accurate? Thanxs-Jeff

The "marbles in a can" sound is PERFECTLY NORMAL for 6-speed vettes. You DO NOT need to have to have any work done on your clutch or your transmission. If I'm not mistaken, the noise is even documented in your owners manual (depending upon the year of your car). This is just another incident of a stealership trying to rip you off!!!

I made the right call then, and passed on the repair...I just picked it up a while ago....the sound actually seems to be gone. I think they might have had to top off some fluid while putting it back together. They still got me though...labor to look at that and the er brake cable, and to replace a $37.00 flasher switch was $308.00 Thanxs for your input, Jeff
