Default cd changer problem any inputs pleaseeeeeeeeee?

has anyone ever had this to happen when you are playing a cd thru your changer? For the last two days i am getting a lot of crackling when i play cd in my 2000 vette. it if off and one but when i first start up the car no prblems then after ten minutes it sounds like a record playing with a lot fo scratches on it. This does not happen when I am playing the fm radio. any suggestions? or inputs would be graetly appreciated.

I think it is dying. I am on my 4th changer on my 2004. They all seem to fail with temperature. In other words, it will play for a while and then stop. I never had any crackling. It would start working again after startup but only if the car sat for several hours and cooled off. If yours works again after a quick restart, it may be some other problem. Good luck.

Or the GM10-AUX and use any player with a headphone jack.

It get's very hot where the changer is located. I leave the compartment cover off so it does'nt get to hot. I like liquid idea. I plan to dump the changer.

Yep. The original lasted about 8 months. I think I just got a lemon from the factory. The biggest problem is that they will only replace it with a refurbished unit. The first refurbished unit was DOA the second died on a cross country trip with the trunk packed full and outside temps around 100. I now have a working unit and plan to always use it with the cover off to aviod this problem again. After the warranty runs out, I will put in an ipod if goes again.

Were you playing CD-R discs when you heard the crackling? I remember a discussion about CD-R's causing crackling sounds through the changer but then worked perfectly in the head unit cd player.
