Default C6 lights on a C5

My friend, who is a body guy, and I have been discussing the possibility of doing a front end make over on my C5. The main issue here is the light front head lights. We have drawn up some plans and are seriously thinking of ways to get this done. He would do the body work for me as he has experience with fiber glass. What do you guys/gals think? Can anyone do a photo chop putting the C6 lights on a C5 body? (Torch red FRC) Anyone up for this challenge? Thanks

Default Interesting Idea

A couple thoughts before you proceed. Doing away with the hidaway headlights was a major point of contention amongst C5 owners when evaluating the C6. A conversion like this could hurt resale value. If you are still serious about moving forward you may consider a C5R light conversion. The conversion occupies the same receptacle as the hidaways without major bodywork and I believe the hidaways can be replaced if need be.

Default I'm sorry

I think the C5 looks better with the C6 lights than the C6 does but I realize now that I hate the look of those lights. It is my opinion that they made the car look like a living thing like a ray or shark. The C5 front end with the hidaways looks like an exotic sportscar and that's the way it should look. Not like a fish with a smile on its face. I think its time for GM to hire Saleen or McLaren to design the next generation Corvette. We need a car that is wide and low and not tall and short. Man I am glad I got that out of my system.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but when I see the head-on view of the C5 with the C6 headlights, all I think of is Chrysler's advertising campaign for the Neon when it first came out -- Head-on view, caption: "Hi"

To each his own, I guess. But none for me, thanks.

I hate to admit it, but I kinda like it. Some of that could be because of the PITA that my C5 headlights have been...

How about instead of having your guy do bodywork have him fabricate a set of these (taken from another tread):

A guy took these headlights...

disassembled them from their tubs and installed them in a custom/jerry rigging manner using Breathless Performance clear covers

for this final product Notice that they don't bulge as much as the C5R's

Doesn't look too bad on a C5. Good luck if you decide to do the project. Just be sure to document so we all can see how it was done.
