Difference between pre-01 vs 01-later convertible tops?

Difference between pre-01 vs 01-later convertible tops?
Has anybody ever compared the convertible tops side-by side, before and after the 2001 changes? Are the differences noticeable in terms of fit and finish, sealing, and wind noise?

I just had a new top put on. My '98 had the original style and my new top has the newer style. It cost like $50.00 more.
The weave is a little nicer and softer to the touch, and it fits around the window slightly better.
Otherwise the fit is virtually the same.
